Safety. Family. Home.
I was assigned female at birth. My gender identity is non-binary.
The LGBTQ+ community has meant life or death. There is something special about being seen and being able to see other humans who are also on the queer spectrum. It provides normalization to my life, my worth. The queer community allows people to thrive in a world we are not set up to thrive in.
It is revolutionary for any trans person to choose to be seen and visible in a world that tells us we should not exist.
Everything seems to come full circle.
This is really walking the walk in terms of cultural competency and inclusion and making sure all of our community feels safe.
So much of my life, I have felt so isolated and alone, and I just hope there’s people who realize that they’re not alone.
It’s so important to share and show what we’re defending. Our ability to fantasize, our ability to dream beyond what is happening right now, our ability to come together, hang out and be our fabulous selves.
I just knew I was the farthest thing from a man
We can win.
United we stand, divided they catch us one by one.
The youth and the safe places we can make for them.
Knowing that one day I will end up where I want to be, as long as I stay strong
I believe that telling our stories, first to ourselves and then to one another and the world, is a revolutionary act. It is an act that can be met with hostility, exclusion, and violence. It can also lead to love, understanding, transcendence, and community. I hope that my being real with you will help empower you to step into who you are and encourage you to share yourself with those around you.
